I was the 'new girl on the block' in 1960-61. After living in the same town in Ohio all my life, my parents decided to move to Florida. Two weeks before school started we arrived in Sarasota. I loved the weather, the school and most of all the new friends I made. It was my 'fantasy year', unfortunately right after graduation we moved back to Ohio. I swore I was moving back, but life goes on. I attended cosmetology school right after we returned. In 1962 I married my husband Larry, we honeymooned in Sarasota and he is now retired. In 1964 our son Brian was born, 1966 twins Troy and Todd. I was a 'stay at home' mom till they started school; then went to work part time for a few years, In 1976 decided to buy my building and have my own salon. I am still at it. I like the people I work with and the clients.
Our son, Brian works for Clean Harbor Environmental Company and has one daughter, Emily, a senior at Kent State University. Troy, is a superintendant with a local construction company, he is married to Kelly, a real estate agent. They have a daughter Rilee 10 and a son Chase 8. They also live here in Fremont. Todd has lived in Europe since he graduated from Ohio State University. He is vice president of retail for a large clothing company in Europe. Because of Todd, I have had the opportunity to visit him once a year. My husband goes some of the time, but he doesn't have the desire to travel that I do. I have been able to travel with my mother (now 87) and last summer I went with granddaughter Emily. Todd surprised us with a trip to Venice. Initially he lived in Belgium and we have gone to so many countries by train. He is now located in Zurich, Switzerland. Skype keeps us close.
My husband and I have also been to three of the Caribbean Islands and visit friends that have settled in Naples Florida.
I always had the desire to go to all of our states; I still have nine to go. The northwest states still wait.
I did attend the 20th class reunion in Sarasota, but I also attend the ones here, even chaired one year.
I am active in Soroptimist International of Fremont and am co-chair of Lutheran World Relief for the church I attend.
We have been blessed.. life is good!
I have really enjoyed reading all the bios... great idea!... Have a super 50th!!!
