It is so good to return to those memories of SHS and those days of find ourselves in the path of the past and future.

I attended MJC for a short time and moved to Springfield MA to attend Springfield College, but i was living with my sister and her family at the time working at Liberty Mutual Insurance Company waiting for the fall classes to begin, but that didn't happen because my 29 year old sister was found to have cancer and we had to return to Florida

My sister past away and I struggled for awhile trying to find my place and decided to attend Troy State College in Troy, AL where i received my BS degree in education and traveled back to the north again to teach on Long Island, NY. I brought all those wonderful physical education classes that i had at SHS... all the life time sports activities that make Florida so wonderful in the summer or winter months and hoped to instill in my students how life holds activities as long as you can stand. I received my Masters Degree from Hofstra University on Long Island. I retired from East Rockaway High School in 1985 to return to Florida to take care of my mother who had some illness.

I opened a florist shop in Bradenton on 41 and kept that for five years, but i also applied to the Florida Highway Patrol and attended the academy in 1986. I found myself spending more time with the patrol and less time with the business and i closed the shop at the end of the five years.

I was the first female trooper to retire from the Florida Highway Patrol in 2003. During my time with the patrol I had the opportunity to teach my fellow troopers in this troop which included the areas of Naples, Ft Myers, Arcadia, Bradenton and Sarasota. I kept using the education that my teachers and family pushed me to gain and continue to try and educate others to be themselves and not pretend to be something they're not.

I work now to help the elderly persons to improve their homes by repairing things in their homes to make life a better place to live. I hope to continue to do this until i cannot do it anymore. I have been blessed with good health and hope to live as long as my 98 year old mother.

I am looking forward to attending my first reunion with my class of 1961, but I have attended all the reunions from my teaching class of 1981 of East Rockaway HS.

See you on Friday and bring your smile.
